How The BERP Works:

1. Developing Breath Support and Ear Training
   The BERP helps players develop proper breath support by blowing into resistance, allowing them to buzz their mouthpiece while holding their instrument in the regular playing position.

   • Players can press valves or move the slide to match the pitches they’re buzzing, reinforcing the connection between buzzing and playing for ear-training benefits.

2. The Clamp

   • The BERP clamp fits firmly onto the open end of the instrument’s receiver with the mouthpiece removed.
   • It’s designed to tighten around round, hex, or convex-shaped openings.
   • Once attached, players can easily alternate between buzzing and playing by switching the mouthpiece.

3. The Resistance Dial

   • For trumpets, horns, and cornets, position the dial below the holes and push it up to partially cover them, creating the desired resistance.
   • For trombones, euphoniums, and tubas, position the dial above the holes and lower it for optimal resistance.
   • Beginners benefit from slightly more resistance to achieve a good buzz. Once the buzz is achieved, the resistance should be adjusted to match that of the instrument.
