Floyd Cooley 3 Tuba Mouthpiece

Overview

The Floyd Cooley 3 is based on one of Floyd Cooley's favorite mouthpieces from before he began producing his own designs. Some of Floyd's legendary recordings were made using the original mouthpiece.

For the CHI version, Floyd's own rim design was incorporated, and the shank was modernized. The result combines characteristics of the historical mouthpiece with the rim that became closely associated with Floyd's later designs.

Performance Characteristics

The Cooley 3's smaller throat and distinctive cup make it particularly responsive and flexible. It works exceptionally well on larger piston F tubas and can also be used on CC and BBb tubas when a smaller, more focused sound is desired.
