The JR Helleberg is based on a custom mouthpiece made for an Arnold Jacobs student in the early 1990s.
The design reimagines an original 1930s Helleberg owned by Jacobs for use with smaller instruments. The rim and upper portion of the cup retain the characteristics of the original, while the lower cup is shallower and uses a smaller throat and backbore.
The JR produces a lighter version of the classic Helleberg sound while retaining tonal depth and character.
